Advent of Dungeons: Day 5 & 6 – ONIONS, FOOTBALL

If I had been better prepared for the Advent of Dungeons, I would have already written for a few days in advance and had the posts scheduled to go out.

Then again, if I was prepared, I wouldn’t have started a day late because I would have known I was doing this before December.

Anyways, here we are. Let’s get into it.

My Day 5 Content

Yesterday’s prompt was ONIONS. Onions are all about layers, so I’m thinking maybe about a series of puzzles.

  1. The party needs to get inside a room fully enclosed by multiple layers
  2. The outside layer has a waxy texture to it and needs to be melted away
  3. The middle layer has a calico pattern and scratches anyone who tries to break it, but it softens with petting
  4. The inner layer is made of tree branches that grow back rapidly and need to be pruned somehow

So what’s Day 6?

Today’s prompt is FOOTBALL.

But what football? American football? Soccer? It’s up to you!

My Day 6 Content

American football is all about getting the ball to the end zone. I want to put together a combat encounter based on that.

  1. The party needs to get a relic back into a reliquary at the far end of a church
  2. The relic is withering but can be partially restored every 30 feet i.e. 10 yards within 2 rounds of combat
  3. There are skeletons in the way that can be knocked down temporarily
  4. The relic can be thrown from player to player but it does require checks along the way

So what’s Day 7?

Tomorrow’s prompt is MICROSCOPIC.
