Advent of Dungeons 2024: Day 20 – POKER

Should I be preparing the game of Daggerheart I’m running tomorrow night?

Definitely.

Am I doing my Advent of Dungeons content instead?

My Day 20 Content

Speaking of betting, today’s prompt was POKER.

I have never come up with a gambling mini-game for content before, but now seems a good a time as any.

Rather than cards, we should use dice for it. And we should use all of the dice for it.

Rules:

The object of the game is to score as close to 30 as possible
Each player has a set of regular dice: d4, d6, d8, 2d10, d12, and d20
In the first round, the starting player chooses one type of die to roll
Everyone rolls that die. They can all choose whether to add or subtract that number from their total.
Then, the next player choose a type of die to roll that hasn’t been rolled yet
Play continues until all of the dice have been rolled
Whichever player has the total closest to 30 wins.
If there is a tie, the tied players play additional rounds until someone is the closest

Is this game any fun? No idea. Maybe I’ll try it tomorrow.
