Advent of Dungeons 2024: Day 23 – PROPHECY

I decided that this advent calendar will end on the 24th because I will take a break on Christmas from writing.

That means that this is the penultimate content, and the final prompt will be below!

My Day 23 Content

Today’s prompt was PROPHECY. Rather than coming up with a specific set of scenes, I want to setup an adventure with a variety of possible directions for the players to pursue. Depending on what the players tug on, all of the other concerns could go away.

Quest: A prophet foretells a great famine unless two neighboring nobles can make peace over a land ownership dispute.

Complications, any of which might be resolved:

  1. The original charter from the king has been lost, and their copies disagree
  2. Other valuable land has been lost to raiders and bandits
  3. Fey creatures have recently been seen on the disputed land for unknown reasons
  4. The two nobles were once fellow adventurers who had a falling out over unevenly split treasure
  5. Of course, there are two children between the noble families that are in love
